I am so excited!! It was a tough game against the NY Jets, but they pulled it off. I was very nervous through out the game and it was frustrating because I couldn't jump up and down. ;) I wish I could've been there.

But it's going to be so exciting watching them play the New Orleans Saints on Feb. 7th with our little girl (she will definitely be here by then). Now we need to find her a COLTS outfit to wear for the BIG game.

The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-47432660835922529612010-01-21T08:02:00.001-08:002010-01-21T08:19:54.349-08:00Craig's Baby Shower On Wednesday Jan. 20th the ladies at Craig's work gave us a baby shower. If you know Craig at all, you know he hates to be the center of attention. So although he appreciated the gesture he was dreading going. I wasn't for sure if I was going to go or not because it was in the middle of the day and his work is across town from mine. But I knew that he would appreciate me being there and he really needed me to be there to take some of the attention off of him. So after some sweet talking by Craig.....(he knows me too well) I decided to go. So the wonderful wife that I am ;) , I took a couple of hours of personal time and waddled my way over there.

Keep in mind I have never met any of the people that Craig works with. So the first time I am meeting them I am 9 months pregnant, swollen, needing a highlight job and waddling when I walk. Great way to make a first impression. Everyone was very nice and inviting. They had a cake and food for us. And the only rule was Craig had to open all the presents. Our little girl got some really cute outfits and a lot of diapers. :) After the shower Craig walked me around the store and introduced me to everyone. I am really glad that I went. And again, it was very overwhelming at how generous and kind everyone was. :) All 3 of us are very lucky!
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-597381452464204572010-01-21T07:38:00.000-08:002010-01-21T07:59:44.573-08:0039 WeeksOn Wednesday Jan. 20th I was 39 weeks pregnant. There is not much change from last week. She is just putting on baby fat to survive outside the womb. At my doctors appointment on Tuesday I asked if she could estimate how much she thinks the baby weighs and she said about 6 1/2-7lbs. :) About the size of a mini watermelon. Lets hope she doesn't grow too much more.

Craig and I are very anxious to see what/who she looks like and if she has any hair and what color it is. These last few weeks are really dragging by. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as the big event gets closer. :)

In honor of our Baby Girl Wertz this week , have a watermelon. I wish I had some exciting news to report but I don't. Everything is the same as last week. My blood pressure, weight and baby's heartbeat were all good. :) And I have not dilated any further. Dr. Bain and I discussed more about having me induced on Feb. 3rd. We talked about what they would do for me, etc. Being induced is something that I want to avoid as much as possible. I would rather let nature takes its course. But I also, of course, don't want any harm to our little girl. So I will do what the doctor tells me/suggests. This weekend I have decided to do some major walking to maybe let gravity help out a little. And there is always the full moon on Jan. 30th. ;)

Please keep the 3 of us in your prayers these last 2 weeks. At least we know she will be here in time to see the Colts in the Super Bowl. ;)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-39216241598779870262010-01-15T07:28:00.000-08:002010-01-15T07:44:51.025-08:0038 WeeksOn Wednesday I was 38 weeks pregnant!! Only 2 weeks left....hopefully. ;) There isn't much change from last week. All our baby girl is doing now is putting on weight and preparing for survival on the outside. She now weighs about 6.8 pounds and measures about 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek ??). She now has a firm grasp, which she will be able to test when she grabs our hands for the first time. :) Her organs are matured and are now ready for life outside the womb.

Here lately I have been having trouble breathing and having chest pains. So yesterday I went to my family doctor and had some tests done. It turns out that my asthma is the cause. She said that my lungs were weak and that is causing the chest pains. Therefore we need to strengthen my lungs before I go into labor. So I now have 2 inhalers that I have to do 6 times a day. FUN!! But I don't care what I have to do as long as I can get a little more comfortable and breathe. :)

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a leek?? :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-68578615558111375862010-01-13T11:47:00.000-08:002010-01-13T12:00:14.680-08:004th Baby Shower for our Baby Girl
One of the many cute outfits she got at the shower (this one is for Valentine's Day)

The cake was adorable. Everything was perfect. They had wonderful food, a very fun game and lots of presents for our little girl. The game that we played was for everyone to write on a piece of paper how much you think the baby will weigh and to suggest a name for the baby. Whoever gets closest to the weight or name gets a prize. At the end of the shower I read aloud who suggested what name. Some were very comical. A lot of people were suggesting a W name to go along with Wertz. So you can only imagine the girl names that they came up with. :) It was alot of fun and we got a lot of really nice things for her. The three of us are so lucky. :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-82040755323068577632010-01-12T11:50:00.000-08:002010-01-12T11:57:34.693-08:00Weekly Doctors Appointment # 3Today, Jan. 12th, I had another doctors appointment. While I thoroughly enjoy going to the doctor because I get to talk about the baby, see what's going on and hear her heartbeat, I would much rather her be here. :)
The doctor said there was little change. I have thinned a little more and dilated a little more. Baby Girl's heartbeat was 160bpm (which is good and strong). Dr. Bain started talking to me about if I go past my due date (UGH). She would have me come in on Feb. 3rd and induce me to deliver by Feb. 4th (because she is on call). She said that she would not let me go past Feb. 4th. So that is encouraging to at least know some kind of end date and possibly her birthday. :)
So I made another appointment and it's off to the doctor again next week. :)
Keep us in your prayers. The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-49786240923660764252010-01-08T10:26:00.000-08:002010-01-08T10:33:24.411-08:00SNOW

Yesterday Jan. 7th we got a good amount of snow in Lexington. By the time it was all over with we got about 3 inches. It was so pretty. My office closed early because the roads were getting bad. It was hard for the road treatments to work because the temperatures are so cold. When Craig finally got home from work we bundled up and went for a short walk. Well I only went for about 15 minutes. He went back out and played a little longer. He loves the snow. I am really hoping our baby girl will be born on a snow day, that would thrill him. :) But not too much snow where we can't get to the hospital or Mom and Dad can't get to us. :)

Here are some pictures of the snow. At 37 weeks the baby is now considered FULL TERM!! That means if she were to be born today, her lungs would be fully mature, and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though my due date is 3 weeks away.

She now weighs about 6 1/3lbs, and measures a bit over 19 inches long head to heel (the length of a stalk to Swiss Chard??). Many babies have a full set of hair at birth, anywhere from 1/2 inch long to 1 1/2 inches. We, of course, can't wait to see what/who she looks like.

So everyone be on stand by, we never know when she will decide to make her appearance. The anticipation is killing me.

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz, have a stalk of swiss chard ???

P.S. No we have not decided on a name yet. We have 2 that we like. We are waiting until we see her and then we will decide. So many people are asking and a lot of them think we already know. But we don't. Remember this is a very hard decision! :) But we will all know soon enough.

The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-14533569325489404422010-01-06T07:33:00.000-08:002010-01-06T07:46:53.637-08:00Weekly Doctors Appointment # 2Tuesday Jan. 5th I went back to the doctor for my weekly doctors appointment. I was really anxious and excited to see if I had dilated any further. If you are a woman you are very familiar with the waiting at the "woman" doctor. I feel like the further along in my pregnancy that I get, the longer they make me wait. It's now up to at least an hour and a half before I get called back. When Craig went with me in the beginning he got very frustrated with the wait. This is also the guy that NEVER goes to the doctor. He wouldn't survive at this rate. :)

So after my loooong wait, I did my regular routine with the nurse, weight (YIKES), blood pressure (GOOD) and peeing in the cup (RELIEF). :) Everything was good.
When I finally got to see doctor Bain we went over the procedure of when I should call her and go to the hospital etc. And unfortunately I had not progressed any further, still dilated 1cm. It was disappointed because I was sure after the pain that I felt this past weekend that I would've dilated a little more. Dr. Bain did say the good news is that my belly is measuring right on schedule (not too big). If my belly was too big then that would mean our baby girl is too big. Of course she is just right. :)

So now is the waiting game and we'll see what Dr. Bain says next week. The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-73421809813273001702010-01-06T07:19:00.000-08:002010-01-06T07:32:44.350-08:00The NEW Year!! Well it's here.......2010. The year that our lives are going to change forever and I can not wait!!! Of course the anticipation is killing me wondering when our little one will make her appearance. If she's anything like her mom and grandma Robinson, she will be late. ;)

Right after the Christmas holiday Grandma and Grandpa Wertz along with Aunt Sarah got to travel to Orlando, FL to visit Mickey Mouse. Of course last year at this time, Craig and I had planned on going. Oh my how things have changed in a year. But the exciting thing is the next time we go to see Mickey, we'll have someone very special to share it with. :)

Craig and I didn't do too much for New Years. We went out to dinner with Todd, Laura, Justin and Lindsey. Then Justin and Lindsey came back to our house to play some games and just relax. This was definitely the first new years in a loooong time where I was not able to drink champagne at midnight. It was the prefect New Years for a 9 month pregnant lady. :)

Now that New Years is over, I think it has really hit me that she will be here any day now. Craig and I have not planned anything for the month of January just in case. We need to be on alert. :)

My bags are packed and I'm ready to go.......just waiting on her. I guess that will be the story of my life from now on. :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years. Remember to stick to your resolutions. 2010 WILL be a great year for the Wertz'!!
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-6480911372755505342009-12-30T10:20:00.000-08:002009-12-30T10:29:01.934-08:00Weekly Doctors AppointmentStarting at 36 weeks, I am now going to the doctor weekly. I had an appointment on Tuesday. Her heartbeat was 138bpm. I saw a new doctor this week because my doctor was on vacation. Also this new doctor could be the one to deliver the baby so it was good to meet him.
He did an examine on me and said that I was dilated 1cm and thinning. He said that he head was in the down position, which is very good. He also said that he could feel her head!! He said he thought she could either be early or at least right at her due date. So the doctors appointment was very exciting!! And it sounds like our little girl could be here very soon.
Last night I started washing all of her clothes, blankets, etc. I now need to pack her diaper bag and my bags too. Craig and I are going this week to get the car seat installed by the fire department and let them teach us how to install it. We're just trying to get the last little things done before she gets here. We are so excited!!
I have decided between now and the time she gets here I am relaxing!! We aren't doing anything for New Years, just hanging out at the house. We're pretty much going to keep the whole month of January open, just in case. :)

I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe New Year. Of course Craig and I are looking forward to the new year. :)The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-26431461867834011092009-12-30T09:58:00.000-08:002009-12-30T10:20:32.488-08:0036 Weeks Today, I am 36 weeks pregnant!! The baby is now packing on the pounds at a rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6lbs (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She is shedding most of the downing covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine month amniotic bath. She swallows both of these substances along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture called meconium, which will form the contents of her first bowl movement (YAY!).

At the end of this week the baby will be considered full term (full term is 37-42 weeks).

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a crenshaw melon. :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-87612368815238866402009-12-28T07:38:00.000-08:002009-12-28T08:04:34.918-08:00Christmas 2009
The Robinson and Wertz ladies
Craig and I with his parents and sister Sarah

Craig and I with my parents, aunt, uncle and cousin

Craig and I with my parents

Craig and I were so blessed this Christmas (we are every Christmas actually). But this Christmas was really special for us. We were not able to travel home because of how far along I am in my pregnancy. So my family came to us this year. My Mom, Dad, brother Travis, sister-in-law Mandy, Uncle Mark, Aunt Maura and Cousin Olivia. They are traveled on Christmas Eve to our house. We had Christmas Eve dinner with all of my family and Craig's family (Mom, Dad and Sister). Then we opened presents with my family and visited. It was so nice having both families together. Craig and I love BIG families.

Then on Christmas Day we (Craig and I and his family) did our traditional Christmas celebration and opened presents together. When we were finished my family came over to the Wertz'. Travis and Mandy had to leave early because Travis had to work the next day in Memphis. :( The visits are NEVER long enough. The rest of us visited at Craig's parents house all day and had Christmas dinner.

It was a great weekend. Craig and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Our Baby Girl is so lucky to have such a great family. She doesn't have that much room to maneuver now that she is about 18 inches long and weighs about 5 1/4lbs (the size of a honeydew melon). Because she is so snug in the womb, she isn't doing somersaults anymore. But I am still feeling her kick and punch. :)

Her kidneys are fully developed now and her liver can process some waste products now. Most of her physical development is now complete, she'll now spend the next few weeks putting on weight. :)

I am now starting to go to the doctor once a week (my next appointment is tomorrow). I can't wait to hear the heartbeat and see what position she is in.

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a honeydew melon. :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-16647069976712347472009-12-16T07:03:00.000-08:002009-12-16T07:28:26.370-08:0034 Weeks Today, Wednesday Dec. 16th, I am 34 weeks pregnant. Our baby girl now weighs about 4 3/4lbs (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers, which will help regulate her body temperature once she is born, are filling her out and making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. According to the baby center website, babies born between 34-37 weeks who have no other health problems, generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short term health issues, but in the long run they usually do as well as full term babies.

Lets hope and pray that she doesn't decide to get her until her due date. I am anxious to see her but I want everything to be developed and her to be as healthy as she can be. So I'm praying for Jan. 27th. :)

As for me, here lately I have been feeling a little more tired. I am mostly physically wore out. Plus I don't sleep that much as night so that is taking a toll on me too. I wonder when I will be able to get a good nights sleep again. :)

Craig and I are so excited for her to get here. We almost want the holidays to fly by just so she can get here faster.

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and everything looked normal. My blood pressure was 104/60 (a little low) and her heartbeat was 157bpm. My hands and feet are swelling more (I'm not able to wear my wedding ring anymore) but the doctor said she is not concerned because my blood pressure was low. She said that I will probably start to feel contractions and to just keep track of them and make sure they aren't consistent yet. My next appointment I will be meeting with another doctor that is in the practice just in case my doctor can not deliver me. WOW, its so weird to start talking about labor and preparing for it. I am so excited!!! :)

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a cantaloupe. :)

The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-12166250425198364942009-12-09T07:27:00.000-08:002009-12-09T07:51:11.284-08:0033 Weeks

Today, Dec. 9th, I am 33 weeks pregnant. :) This week the baby is just over 4lbs, the same size as a pineapple (I LOVE pineapples!!). She has passed the 17 inch mark in length. She is rapidly losing that wrinkled alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren't fused together which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to move and fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a cone-head like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Things are about the same with me. Still having back pain and trouble sleeping and some swelling. But I'm still getting around. :) And as happy as can be that she's almost here! You are considered full term at 37 weeks, so that means she could be here as early as in 4 weeks. :)

Craig and I have almost completed the nursery. We still need to get some kind of chair to put in the nursery for feedings and organize things. And we are still debating about her name. It's such a hard and permanent decision. We think that we will wait until we see her and decide.

Right now Craig and I are trying to make any last minute decisions (child care, insurance etc...) and we need to get the car seat installed by the fire department (yes its that difficult to install).

Other than all that, we are looking forward to Christmas and spending time with our family and friends.

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a whole pineapple. :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-61438141711525331902009-12-02T08:22:00.000-08:002009-12-02T08:32:25.967-08:00Doctors AppointmentOn Tuesday Dec. 1st I went back to the doctor. I am now going every 2 weeks. In January I will go every week as my due date gets closer.
I had some concerns to talk to the doctor about because I had been having some very uncomfortable pains in my lower abdomen. They were very intense pains that stopped me in my tracks. So I talked to the doctor and she said that the baby is now getting in position for birth so she has started to move her head down and is very low. The baby is pushing on a nerve in my lower abdomen. That is the intense pain that I am feeling. She said to stop whatever I am doing and lay down when the pain occurs and hopefully the baby will move positions and stop pushing on the nerve. This little girl loves getting on my nerves already. HA HA. :)

Everything else was normal. My blood pressure, my belly is measuring right on track and her heartbeat (which I got to hear again) was 145 bpm, which is healthy!! I love getting a good report from the doctor. So now I go back in 2 weeks (Dec. 15th). Time is flying and she will be here before we know it. YAY!!!

Please keep all 3 of us in your thoughts and prayers. :)The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-25814582513595859972009-12-02T08:10:00.000-08:002009-12-02T08:22:19.780-08:0032 WeeksToday, Dec. 2nd, I am 32 weeks pregnant. Only 8 weeks to go!!!! YAY!!

By now she weighs 3.75 pounds (about the same weight as a jicama??). She is about 16.7 inches long and taking up a lot of room in my uterus. I'll now start to gain about 1 pound a week and half of that pound goes directly to her. In fact she will gain 1/3rd to half of her birth weight within the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails and real hair. He skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up and prepares for birth.

In honor of our Baby Girl, have a jicama (if you have any idea what it is), this week. :)
The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281539775649402232.post-68710391847910862412009-11-25T07:15:00.000-08:002009-11-25T07:23:21.468-08:0031 WeeksToday, Nov. 25th, I am 31 weeks pregnant. Only 10 weeks to go (as long as she doesn't come early).
She is now about 15.7 inches long and weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of a cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in my uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though its not very keen. Even after she is born she will keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them she will respond to changes in light but she will have 20/400 vision, which means she will only be able to make out objects a few inches from her face.

My belly is definitely getting bigger and is starting to get really heavy. It's getting harder to sleep and its making me have back pain. I have been experimenting with different ways to sleep to try to help the discomfort. But I know this is for a good reason and I don't mind. :)

In honor of Baby Girl Wertz this week, have a head of cabbage. :)The Wertz Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05421920006308145209noreply@blogger.com0
